Well, I've been back from Ecuador for four weeks, and trust me, it's been a busy four weeks. That's the main reason it's taken this long to post this journal entry.

The Tao of Photgraphy Workshop was literally a life changing experience. The trip from Bisbee to Ecuador was rather gruelling.Once in Ecuador, however, things got interesting fast.

The nine of us arrived after dark and were picked up at the airport by two vans from the Samai Eco Retreat located just insise the Pacific Coastal Rainforest. The trip fron the airport took us through villages, which even at night whetted our appetites for what lay ahead. After a short introductions to our hosts Ed and Tania Tuttle, we headed or our cabanas and a good night's sleep.

The next few days were spent trekking through the tropical rainforest, exploring nearby fishing villages and touring the coastal island, the Isla de la Plata, the Isle of Silver. This island is oten referred to as the poor man's Galapgos due to the fact that some of the same native species that inhabit the Galapagos are to be found on this island also.

We Also, while at Samai, were privileged to experience an ancient shamanic ritual, the Iowaska Ceremony.

The scond leg of our journey took us to the southern Andean highlands where we were hosted by Dr. Brian O'Leary, a former Apollo Astronaut who was to have been the commander of the first manned expedition to Mars, and his lovely wife Meredith, a visionary artist, at their mountain retreat Montesuenos. With Monestuenos as our base, we spent the remaining days photographing the scenic Andes Mountains and the colorful Andean village of Vilcabamba.

I managed to return to Bisbee with approximately 4,000 photographs under my belt. A sampling of some of these photos are available on this website. Also, my gallery show "Journey through Ecuador' is currently running at BizzArt Gallery,on historic Brewery Gulch here in Arizona.

Well, it’s mid-April already, and I’m looking forward to an exciting summer.  I am in the process of photo documenting the Bisbee Arizona Relay For Life American Cancer Society event.
